4/28/2010 - PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. -- In October 2008, the 21st Space Wing began implementation of the Defense Biometric Identification System for individuals entering Peterson AFB. DBIDS is a Department of Defense initiative designed to improve the security of U.S. military bases. Peterson AFB is the first Air Force Base in the continental United States to fully implement the system. All ID card holders wanting access to Peterson AFB must be registered in DBIDS and are encouraged to register now to avoid unnecessary delays.

If you have previously registered in DBIDS, it is not necessary to re-register. However, due to software upgrades some previously registered ID card holders have dropped from the database. In this instance, we apologize for the inconvenience if directed by security forces to re-register.

On June 1, Peterson AFB will begin random 100 percent DBIDS checks. All ID card holders in the vehicle must be registered in DBIDS. Those individuals who are not registered will be denied base access and redirected to the west gate visitor center. The visitor center currently has extended hours to accommodate the registration process, 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., Monday to Friday, and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to noon.

ID card holders may also register in Building 350 at the Military Personnel Section during normal business hours, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday, and at the Pete East pharmacy located at the BX/Commissary complex from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
